Butler Chain of Lakes
Window Treatments in Windermere, FL
Lakefront houses have a specific problem: the view is the whole point, and the glare off the water is relentless.

Keeping the View, Losing the Glare
On the Butler Chain, water reflects light upward into a room from a completely different angle than the sun does. Standard advice about north and south exposures does not fully apply, because you are dealing with a second light source coming off the lake for most of the day.
Solar shades with a low openness factor are usually the answer. They cut glare hard while staying transparent enough that you keep the view you paid for, which is the entire reason people buy on the water. Blocking it out defeats the purpose.
- Low openness solar fabrics: glare control without losing the view
- Motorization for the tall glass these houses tend to have
- Layered treatments where the same room needs privacy at night
- UV control to protect floors and furniture from lake-reflected light
