Consultation to installation

How a VU Project Actually Runs

Four steps, honest timings, and no surprises. This is the part most companies leave vague, so here it is in full.

Free consultation, no obligation Two to four weeks typical build Our own employees install Firm pricing before you commit

The four steps

Consultation, Measure, Build, Install

Most residential jobs run four to six weeks from first visit to finished install.

1

60 to 90 minutes

A consultant comes to you

With the full sample library from every line we carry, not a brochure. Fabric behaves differently in your light than under showroom bulbs, which is the whole reason we do this at your house. You get firm pricing before anyone leaves.

2

Same visit, usually

We measure every opening

Individually, rather than assuming four windows on the same wall match. They usually do not, particularly in older Orlando homes and anything on a slab that has moved. This is where most window treatment problems are prevented.

3

Two to four weeks

Your order is built in Ocoee

Cut, assembled and checked on our own floor at 301 Enterprise Street. Shutters and larger motorized systems take longer. You get a real date rather than a range.

4

Usually one visit

Our crew installs and clears up

Employees, not subcontractors. They will show you how everything operates, pair motors to your phone if that is part of the order, and take the packaging away with them.

Why measuring matters

Openings Are Almost Never Square

A window that looks square to the eye is routinely out by a quarter inch or more corner to corner. On a hard treatment like a shutter or a blind, that shows immediately as a tapering light gap along one edge.

We measure width and height at three points each and build to the tightest dimension, then account for mounting depth and any handles, cranks or alarm sensors that will foul the treatment. It takes longer at the visit and saves a return trip later.

  • Three measurements per dimension, built to the tightest
  • Mounting depth checked against the product being specified
  • Obstructions noted, including cranks, handles and sensors
  • Out-of-square openings flagged before production, not after

What Happens in Year Six

This is where being the manufacturer stops being marketing and starts being useful. When a component fails years later, we make the replacement part here rather than filing a claim with a distributor and waiting.

Our limited lifetime warranty covers defects in components and workmanship on what we build, for as long as you own the treatment. It does not cover accidental damage, pets or sun fade on fabric, which no manufacturer covers.

Four to six weeks is typical for a residential job, from the first consultation through to a finished installation. Most of that is the two to four week manufacturing window. Shutters and larger motorized systems run longer, and we give you a real date rather than a range before you commit.

Yes, with no obligation. A consultant brings samples, measures what you want quoted, and leaves you with firm pricing. If you decide not to proceed, that is the end of it and you owe nothing.

Somebody over eighteen needs to be there to let the crew in and to walk the finished work with them at the end. A typical residential install takes a few hours depending on the number of openings.

Our crew will move light furniture away from the windows and put it back afterwards. For anything heavy or fragile we would ask you to clear it beforehand, mostly so nothing valuable is near a drill.

We remake it. Because manufacturing is here rather than overseas, a remake is a matter of weeks rather than months, and that is on us rather than on you.
